How the new laws affect healthcare providers

Last year, Australia introduced a new mandatory data breach notification regime, which requires most Australian businesses - and all healthcare providers - to notify the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner and affected individuals of any data breach which puts one or more individuals at likely risk of serious harm. The new law applies to incidents of any size, meaning that even a wrongly addressed email or misplaced USB key can require you to notify the Commissioner and your patients.

This seminar will:

  • look at the requirements of the new laws as they apply to healthcare providers;
  • provide practical guidance on how and when to notify a data breach; and
  • discuss what you can do now to ensure your practice is ready if a data breach occurs.

We hope you are able to attend and look forward to seeing you there.

Parking: Our building is also very close to St Leonards train station or buses along the Pacific Highway. Nearby street parking is mostly 2hr metered and is quite limited as there is a lot of construction happening in the area, however there are two carparks where you can pre-book a space:

  1. https://parkmonkey.com.au/ - operate casual car parking spaces in our building (69 Christie Street, ST LEONARDS) for $5 for the evening. Please make sure that you only park in Park Monkey labelled spaces as cars incorrectly parked do get clamped/towed.
  2. Wilson carpark - almost opposite our building.
