Brisbane writer Caylie Jeffery's latest book 'Under the Lino' is a tale of what lies beneath. It all started with the discovery of 1950s bankbooks and cash literally under the kitchen lino when Caylie and her husband David embarked on renovations. What comes next is an extraordinary story of family and community, both from the time of the bankbooks and now.
Join us for a lavish lunch-time high tea in the beautiful Garden Marquee at Victoria Park Golf Complex on Sunday 31 March and hear directly from the author and help raise funds for Sands Walks to Remember in Queensland.
With a background in nursing, education and counselling, Caylie has had a long association with Sands. There is also a very special link to bereaved parents in the 'Under the Lino' story, and Caylie has included Sands in a dedication to the families of lost children and the community organisations who continue to walk beside those who grieve.
Caylie has donated 100 copies of 'Under the Lino' to Sands, which will be available for purchase at the event. All proceeds from this extraordinary donation will go directly to Sands.
We are already planning our 2019 Walks to Remember across Queensland during October, which is International Pregnancy and Infant Loss Month. With 1000 people gathering to publicly remember and honour their babies who have died, the Walks are the most significant community events in the Sands calendar in Queensland each year. Your support will help us continue and expand these very special events for bereaved parents.
