Remote is the debut EP by Sydney-based alternative band Fergus Bailey & The Teeth. Fergus Bailey & The Teeth have never been ones to do things by halves, and this EP is no different, reflecting the strange space the band’s music occupies between their sometimes incongruous influences.
Though Fergus’s songs start off folky, they are quickly transformed once put in the hands of The Teeth, with the jazz, classical, and soul influences melding together to form expressive, engaging music, as fun as it is sincere.
Over the past year, the band have laboured in private, rehearsing relentlessly to ensure the music is up to a standard they’re happy to put their name to. remote is the fruits of their work, and demonstrates the range the band are capable of.
The EP moves from “Weary Kings,” an expansive Christmas song that has almost nothing to do with Christmas, to the meditative “Otherside,” and finishes with the groove-based “Eulogy.” Fergus Bailey & The Teeth are very proud of remote, and can’t wait for everyone to hear it.
Supported by Pilot Hergé.
