LOUISE MATHIAS
Barrister-at-Law, Nationally Accredited Mediator, Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner, Facilitator, Collaborative Coach, Arbitrator

Louise practices in family law in non-court-based dispute resolution as a Mediator, FDRP, Collaborative Coach and Arbitrator. Louise is on the Bar Association Accredited Mediator Panel, the Supreme Court Mediator Panel, the Family Law Settlement Service Mediator Panel and the Mediation Committee at Resolution Institute.

She practices as a Barrister, Mediator and Facilitator in medical negligence and victims of institutional abuse.

She also practices in crime, and is on the Legal Aid General and Indicatable Panels.

Louise values equally, practising with ‘hard’ technical and human ‘soft’ skills. She recognises that technical and soft skills are the foundation for happier and more successful lawyers and the wellbeing of the profession as a whole.

She will provide some practical tips for lawyers around behaviour and communication skills, which will improve professional relationships, lawyer’s wellbeing and practice success.

MAREA WILSON
Barrister, Denman Chambers

Marea graduated with combined Arts/Law degrees from the University of New South Wales in 1997 and obtained a Masters in Law from the University of Sydney in 2012.

Marea worked in the Employment Law team of the Crown Solicitors Office and then as an industrial officer at the United Services Union (USU), representing members in local government, private sector clerical work, the energy industry, and airlines. Marea worked as the Manager of the Legal and Industrial team before leaving the USU to work for the National Tertiary Education Union, representing members working in higher education.

Marea has also worked as a solicitor in the community legal sector and recently as a writer at Thomson Reuters, producing content for the employment law section of the plain English service, Practical Law.

Since coming to the Bar, Marea has acted for applicants and respondents in a variety of matters, including, but not limited to dismissals, disability discrimination, bullying, recovery of money and general protections.

IRINA HOSKINSON
Barrister, 3 St James Hall Chambers

Irina commenced working in the NSW Courts system in 2003. Her last position before starting in private practice was Deputy Registrar of the Supreme Court of NSW. In that role she dealt with possession of property, probate and administration matters; and presided over examinations.

In private practice, she dealt with bankruptcy, corporate insolvency, debt recovery and family provision matters. She appeared both in NSW and federal jurisdiction.

Irina was called to the Bar in 2016 and takes briefs to appear in Supreme Court, Federal Circuit Court, Family Court, Local Court and NCAT.

Irina is an adjunct lecturer at the College of Law (NSW). She regularly presents CPD seminars for solicitors on her areas of interest such as insolvency reforms and family provision cases.

Irina does pro-bono work through the Bar Association.
