Gospel Jazz Concert

So, we have a jazz festival, it’s Sunday, let’s do a gospel based jazz concert….. but what do we call it?  Jazz in the Chapel?  The Gospel According to Jazz?  Swinging Sunday Jazz?     We posed the question to our featured act, SCAT and received these responses – The Nambour Bible Bash;   Theological Monk;   Beboppin the Beattitudes;  Sermon on the Count-in;   In 1 A chord;   The New Revised Standards Versions…….     Suffice to say our Gospel Jazz concert is going to be a lot of fun.          Easterfest favourites, SCAT, are coming to Nambour Winter Jazz Fest to share their brand of original tunes, tasty standards, clever arrangements, brilliant musicianship and serious humour.   SCAT’s live show, fronted by vocalist Craig Burnett, is a unique blend of accessible sounds, instrumental mastery, audience interaction and off-beat humour.   Having shared the stage with big music icons such as James Morrison, The Whitlams, Emma Pask and Grace Knight,  SCAT are a world-class act.    SCAT will be joined by local artist and festival organiser, Robyn Brown, bringing some negro spirituals and songs from early gospel artists Blind Willie Johnson, Sister Rosetta Tharpe and more.     This will be an afternoon to clap your hands and tap your feet as you’re taken on a journey of beauty, depth, energy and joy.   Don't miss the Nambour Winter Jazz Fest's first Gospel Jazz concert.
