A tribute to the music of Steely Dan & Friends

This musical tribute to Steely Dan & Friends brings together some of the greatest hits of this genre of jazz-blues-rock fusion. With songs from Steely Dan, including some of Donald Fagen’s solo work; Michael McDonald; Toto; Boz Scaggs, and more; this musical journey will satisfy the soul.

Local Darwin band, the Groove Factor, has spent years putting together this kaleidoscope of musical magic.

Seasoned Darwin musicians: Annemarie Lloyd, lead vocals; Linda Masters, vocals, percussion and acoustic guitar; Darryl Minerds, lead guitar; Lindsay Masters, bass and vocals; Andrew Hyde, drums and vocals; and Geoff Gifford, keyboard; come together to finally address this apparent Steely Dan obsession.

The style of music highlights the talents of this group of musicians who, between them, have decades of experience across most styles of music. Featuring four-part harmonies, incredible lead guitar, a sweet fusion of on-the-money bass and tasteful drum work, and infused with melodic keys, this band is a must-see (hear!).

Steely Dan fans can expect to enjoy all those Mu Chords and complex arrangements, but most importantly, the witty lyrics that feature all the important things in life: sex, drugs and exotic alcoholic beverages.

This tribute came about almost accidentally as a result of one very good party that involved good wine, guitars, a make-shift percussion set up, laughs and a lightning-bulb moment where six people realised they shared the same passion to produce a band that played ‘not your average rock ‘n roll’, but some really cool, not so simple, feel-good stuff.
