If his last show here a little over 12 months ago is anything to go by, this will certainly be a night to remember. Returning to Django @ Camelot for his only Sydney performance of the year, Dan Tuffy aka Songs from Dan is planning something special. He always does. His most recent album was hailed as a “downright masterpiece” and his reputation as a consummate and engaging performer precedes him. Fans of the legendary 80’s/90’s folk-psychedelia outfit Wild Pumpkins at Midnight will recognise Dan, but more recently his drop-dead beautiful solo shows have long been the talk of the town. Dan Tuffy –more than just a dude with a guitar.
King Curly is the invention of local singer/songwriter Steve Appel – a long time enigma of original Australian music. Over 15 years this chiefly acoustic ensemble has been capturing the hearts of music lovers and some of biggest names in the business while remaining virtually unknown to commercial airwaves.
King Curly has toured by invitation with acts as diverse as k.d Lang, Paul Kelly and The Cat Empire throughout Australia, Europe and the US.
After a long absence from the stage, building alternative-design mud houses, Steve Appel has re-emerged. Appel is a true creative. His songs and his buildings are beautiful and relevant to the times.
