Tag der Deutschen Einheit – Day of German Unity

The third of October is the Day of German Unity, celebrated as German National Day. Tonight, Brisbane's iconic Story and Victoria Bridges will light up in the German colours. We will hold the reception to celebrate in commemoration of the anniversary of the German reunification in 1990, the day that celebrates a reunited Germany, reunited families, reunited culture and Berlin was once again designated as the capital of united Germany.

Especially tonight on this important day, many thanks to Brisbane City Council's and, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade Qld sponsorship as well as the generous support from the German Federal Foreign Office via the German Consulate General Sydney, Tonight, German car manufacturer Mercedes-Benz in its brand-new home in Newstead will be host to a classical concert featuring selected pieces of well-known German composers performed by the Queensland Symphony Orchestra. We are delighted to welcome on stage, for the first time, the newly formed German Youth Choir for the countries’ national anthems.
