Join three Canberra licensed snake catchers - Rudy Della-Flora, Alex Borg and Gavin Smith - for an interactive and talk about Canberra snakes and other reptile species. The session will raise awareness about our local venomous snake species and the ecological contribution these cryptic and much feared creatures make. Learn about snake physiology, toxins, habitats, behaviours and first aid techniques. Hear how to minimise snakes taking up residence on your property and meet some of our Australian reptiles while listening to ‘tails’ from the snake catching field.
The session is designed to make the Canberra public more appreciative of our local reptile population and more aware of the potential for snake encounter in this region. This experience and knowledge will reduce the likelihood of harmful human-snake interactions.
