The Newsagency Presents: Young Folks.
Four of the greatest acts to grace the stage of our Open Mic night, Rhyen, Riordan, Studio 9 and Libby Ingels.
Studio 9
Studio9 is an up and coming Sydney based trio, blending genres of indie and folk beneath their signature three-part harmonies. Drawing influence from trios such as Joseph and The Staves, their detailed vocal arrangements and lush soundscapes or acoustic guitar offer a fresh and emotive folk driven sound within both their original songs and stripped back covers.
First learning guitar together in their school’s music ‘studio 9’, their unique blend of guitar and intricate harmonies built on years of friendship and experience provides foundation to their intimate storytelling and intuitive blend of vocals, sure to leave a lasting impression.
Riordan
Often we are told to live and learn, and that’s what Riordan writes about - living and learning (though sometimes learning is easier said than done). Built on failed relationships, new friendships, and the trials of adulthood, Riordan’s songs hope to speak to you personally – to make you laugh, to make you cry, or maybe just to have a chat.
|
Libby Ingels is an alluring singer songwriter, whose soulful vocals and heartfelt lyrics are enough to ensnare any audience.
Rhyen
Rhyen is a bedroom-based songwriter with dreams of performing outside his bedroom. Presented through an indie-folk lens, his songs weave a tapestry of delicate guitar work over delicate and graceful vocals.
Rhyen recently released his debut EP 'Tomorrow Things Will Be Alright' which speaks personally about the experience of growing up and the anxieties that come along with it. His honest lyrics and endearing stage presence carry a unique emotional resonance with his audiences, making for an especially captivating live experience.
