The Brisbane Improv Festival is excited to be hosting 22 Improvisation Workshops as part of the 2022 Festival with facilitators from all over Australia and New Zealand.
Game of Life
Facilitated by Matt Armstrong
The Game of Life workshop supports the Game of Life show format (a relationship-based duo show), and is designed for experienced improvisers. In the workshop we’ll cover the show structure (of course) and then use the structure to practice the core improv skills that used in the show. These skills include creating strong characters and relationships that you can maintain for the whole show, using the ‘presentational’ technique to form a strong initiation and create game opportunities by endowing sideways, review and practice emotional choices, keeping your choices and relationship positive, and building on your game through the scene progressions.
Game of Life is heavily character driven so we’ll be focusing on characters and bold choices that move our characters and relationships forward through the five separate scenes for each couple.
The show will be cast from workshop attendees, and allows for 6-10 performers.
Please note that any Festival shows cast from workshops is at the discretion of the show's director and is not guaranteed. Please go into workshops with a view to learning new improv skills and having fun. Any performance opportunity is a bonus.
