The Marvellous Hearts
“The Marvellous Hearts sound like what happens when you give crate-digging music fanatics instruments and tell them to go make a record. There’s snippets of every record they’ve ever heard swirling around in their sound. One minute you hear The Beatles, then it’s Bob Dylan on rotation. Hell, then I hear a fragment that reminds me of one particular Paul Kelly song, and another faint echo that had me thinking Goanna. And yet out of this melting pot comes something distinct and
un-pigeonholeable. And did I mention that they ooze attitude? I like them. Chances are you will too.” Stuart Coupe
“This is like a sonic time machine that can take you way back to a simpler time, filled with awe and wonder.” Nkechi Anele, Roots ‘N’ All, Triple J
Paula Punch & The Fireflys
There is a theme of heartache tinged with hope in Paula’s music, with an increasing element of rising empowerment. Her sound is unique and diverse but if asked, she would likely say indie/folk-rock/alt-country. Paula has shared the stage
& or opened for a myriad of local legends & national treasures including
Abi Tucker, Glen Bidmead, Russell Morris & Renee Geyer.
Her upcoming album "Song to the Trees" will be her first studio album, recorded at Electric Avenue Studios by Philip Punch, Robin Gist and Jem Hoppe-Smith, and with her fabulous band:
Robin Gist on Electric guitar (ex ‘Girl Overboard’), Marko Simec on Keyboards, & Accordion (“Waiting for Guinness” “Soul Movers” “Rufino and the Coconuts”), Mike Rix on bass (“Jason Walker”), Reuben Alexander on percussion/drums (“Liz Martin band” and "William Crichton").
Guitarist Paul Berton and bass player Andy Newman will be joining her at her upcoming live shows.
