Details
Join the Friends of Glenfern Green Wedge along the Ferny Creek to help identify and record endangered bird species. The Ferny Creek supports a wide diversity of birdlife through its waterways and habitat corridors, including migratory species with Japan and China.
What to bring
It is recommended that you wear a warm coat and gumboots. If you have binoculars bring them too.
What to expect
The walk takes approximately two hours. The terrain is flat with mud at various points.
Friends of Glenfern Green Wedge
The Friends of Glenfern Green Wedge have been surveying this stretch of Ferny Creek for 5 years under the mentorship of Birdlife Australia and are a keen group of community scientists! By taking part in this event you can directly contribute to discovering these important species and help conserve their environment. The route starts at the retarding basin and travels west along ferny creek in a set route developed by birdlife Australia.
Parking
Parking is available along New Road, near the oval. Once parked, walk to the retarding basin wall for the Guided Bird Walk.
Tread Lightly
Please respect our plants and wildlife when taking photos. Spring is nesting season for many birds and flowering time for many orchids and herbs so try not to damage or disturb our plants or animals.
