Start high school feeling confident – workshop for students in Grade 6, transitioning to Year 7

Making the transition to high school is a significant change for students and can cause worry.

In this FREE workshop students will learn the skills and knowledge to feel more confident starting high school in 2023.

The session is aimed at students entering year seven in 2023 and will cover:

  • Getting ready (the easy stuff including routines, homework, public transport and uniforms)
  • Time management,being more independent, bullying, anxiety
  • Social media (the good parts and how to manage the negative parts and safety online)
  • Friendships (common worries and some great hacks for making friends in high school)
  • “Brain booster chemicals” how technology effects them, their role in mental health and how to boost our brains on and off screens

The session will involve a variety of discussions, strength-based activities and awareness of supports available during transition times to make the move to high school a smoother and more positive experience.
