Directed by Zuzana Kirchnerová, the film follows Ester, a woman in her mid-forties who has devoted her life to caring for her son David, who has Down syndrome and autism. During a visit to friends in southern Italy, tensions rise over David’s behaviour, and the pair are moved to an old caravan outside the house. Exhausted and longing for space of her own, Ester makes an impulsive decision and drives into the night with the caravan. That moment of flight becomes the beginning of a quiet but transformative search for her inner life.

As they travel across Italy, Ester and David encounter Zuza, a young drifter whose warmth gently unsettles their routine and brings unexpected lightness to their days. With finely tuned performances, including a vivid and authentic debut by David Vodstrčil, Caravan unfolds as a tender reflection on motherhood, resilience, and the fragile hope that emerges when someone dares to imagine a different future and take the first steps toward it.
