ANTIPODES (NZ/AUS)
With fiery solos, contagious grooves & charming melodies, these extremely fine NZ & AUS musicians write inspiring jazz music that is brilliantly artful & beautifully accessible.
The five piece, who are on their seventh tour of Australia, leave wake of all sorts of national accolades: such as guitarist Allardice, taking the 2017 NZ APRA jazz composition of the year award; pianist Sweeting, finalist for the 2016 Freedman Jazz Awards; double bassist Botting, who was a grand finalist at the 2015 National Jazz Awards at Wangaratta Jazz Festival.
The ensemble’s 2018 album release 'Good Winter’ was runner up for APRA New Zealand best jazz album of the year.
