Word was spreading across local towns across Cape York about this new band and the bookings then started rolling in. Black Image stated performing for birthday parties, wedding’s, community events and pub gigs. In 2002, Black Image released their first album titled ‘Durrbil/Dikarrba. Black Image has since then entertained many indigenous communities, towns and cities and have performed at a number of festivals throughout the east coast of Australia, just to name a few, such as the Music Oz Awards in Wollongong ,the Woodford Festival, Village Festival in Yeppoon, and the Laura Dance Festival. Black Image has supported acts such as Troy Cassar-Daley, Country act ‘The Wolverines’ and many more Australian artists. 2004 Black Image released a single on a compilation album titled ‘Indigenous Saltwater Songs’ which was produced by ARIA award winning producers Nigel Pegrum (former Steeleye Span drummer) and Karl Nuenfeldt (Producer and manager of ARIA award winning Seaman Dan).In 2007, Black Image released their second album titled ‘Beautiful Land and Sea’ produced by Black Image alongside Nigel Pegrum and Karl Nuenfeldt. With the release of their second album, Black Image had gained an even wider recognition not only in Australia but also in Europe and Africa and across mainstream radio. In the same year, Black Image was nominated and won the National Indigenous Band of the Year at the 2007 Deadly Awards in Sydney. Then later being nominated again in 2011. 2012, Black Image released their 3rd album ‘Too Deadly’. The album featured a variety of different materials such as country, rock, reggae & ballad. The album also featured special guest Troy CassarDaley on ‘I had a dream last night’. All albums are available on iTunes and music retail outlets across Australia under MGM Distribution Company.
