An Acoustic Selection of the Songs of Richard Thompson served up Neat by The White Horse Band

For the cognoscenti, Richard Thompson needs no introduction. For those unfamiliar with his music, he’s an edgy and evocative songwriter and guitarist par excellence, widely admired and covered. Rising to prominence as the lead guitarist and songwriter with Fairport Convention in the late 1960s he subsequently chose a more singular path, focussing on finely crafted songs, which are now his trademark. His songs invariably conjure up keenly observed cameos - vivid characters tangled up in whatever life has thrown at them!

The White Horse Band are a ‘purpose built’ band of “RT tragics” who have pooled their talents specifically to pay homage to RT…and his acoustic catalogue.

Scott(guitar, vocals) & Jenny Thomson (keyboard, vocals, harmonica) were founding members of ‘Beeswing’ - an RT centric band that spread the RT gospel in and around the Central Coast for many years. More recently they also perform Scott’s original songs, as ‘The Thomsons’.

Nigel ‘Muddy’ Walters (mandolins, guitar, vocals) and Dave Spira (finger-style guitar) are both members of Cap In Hand…an acoustic duo whose extensive repertoire includes several of RT’s songs as well as a contrasting blend of contemporary and traditional folk music.
