The 49th Show - Presented by Army Art

Army Art (WA) Inc is proud to announce we are now a Registered Australian Charity.

We will present more than 90 artists from Western Australia in this, our 49th Show.  Encompassing a wide variety of mediums and styles, it is an unique opportunity to revel in the creative landscape of our community while supporting our Defence Members, Defence Families and Veteran Communities.

All funds raised will be used to support our Art Skills Programs;

Defence Art Skills Program:

Set over 8-10 weeks, and delivered on base, these programs are designed for all skill levels. Offering a range of creative disciplines, the foundation is to equip serving personnel with an art practice that they can take into their everyday lives, and with them through their career.

All art materials are supplied with the intent that they are fully, and easily, portable.In an ideal world, they have them at hand on deployment, on exercise, while traveling.  The opportunity to decompress, in principle, is readily available.

Creative practice is being recognised to still the mind while promoting focus.  It can sharpen decision making processes and enhance problem solving however, the benefits to an individual’s overall wellness are our priority and are becoming better documented.

Our objective is to support those who look after us to develop skills that can aid in their long-term well-being.

It also offers a valuable gateway into the broader community.

Defence Family Arts Program:

Designed to support the defence family, the program offers dedicated time for a serving member and their child whilst developing creative skills.

Learning together, it offers uninterrupted, quality time with the parent.  Developed for children 8+, it is an unique way to build bonds, share experiences and open communication.

The family team receive 6 opportunities to attend art mornings.  These can be claimed randomly over a set time frame to ensure accessibility and each session is a self-contained project.  A member may participate multiple times to ensure each child in the family has the opportunity of quality time with their parent.

All projects are designed to be easily replicable at home with limited additional resources.  Those that are part of the current program can share their new found knowledge with siblings or they can continue to create together with confidence.

Our objective is to build resilience and shared experience for the defence family through creative practice.

Ex-Services Organisations (ESOs)– Art Workshops

Army Art supports ESOs in delivery of 2 day art workshops for veterans hosted by their organisation.

The workshops are built to enable members to build skills in an art discipline that starts them on the road to a personal creative practice.  Catering for all skill levels, the camaraderie that develops between participants, learning together and supporting each other offers the opportunity to connect and build opportunities to participate in the creative community.
