Mongolia meets the Australian Middle East! The stunning artistry and musicianship of Mongolian horse head fiddle player and throat singer Bukhu meets the beautiful lilt of Arabic Oud, Turkish and Bulgarian lute player John Robinson, intricate and melodic lines of darabuka and winds player Andy Busuttil and the brilliance of master percussionist Tunji Beier. EQUUS is the latin root of the word 'equine'. The traditional songs of Mongolia played as you have never heard them before. Exciting, danceable, pulsing, invigorating music. A Festival special event.

Tabla player Bobby Singh, a disciple of the great maestro Aneesh Pradhan, is one of the most sought-after musicians on the Australian world music circuit.  Bobby has played with such luminaries as Pt Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, Purbayan Chatterjee, Shashank Subramanium & Guru Karaikudimani amongst many others.

Outside of the milieu of Indian classical music, Bobby has also formed many partnerships with some of Australia’s best known musicians. Crossing many styles of music from Drum & Bass with The Bird to Western Classical with Slava Grigoryan to Blues & Roots with John Butler & Jeff Lang.  For this show he will be joined by virtuoso flamenco guitarist Damian Wright, known as a member of acclaimed ensembles The Translators and Bandaluzia flamenco.
