2012 Jann Rutherford Memorial Award winner Ellen Kirkwood is the bandleader of Captain Kirkwood, a group of vibrant musicians that is the perfect vehicle for her outstanding and unique composing style. Earlier this year, Captain Kirkwood released their debut album, Theseus and the Minotaur, which features Kirkwood's 40 minute narrated music story and more of her originals, rich with the driving grooves and catchy melodies that define her distinctive music.

For this performance, Captain Kirkwood will also be joined by two special guests; the ever-exciting powerhouse saxophonist Matthew Ottignon, and another Jann Rutherford Award winner, dynamite drummer Ali Foster.
