Guzzanti’s witty and scathing documentary Viva Zapatero! directs hard criticism at the censorship imposed by Silvio Berlusconi in Italy. in the style of Farenheit 9/11, Guzzanti criticisizes Berlusconi's use of political and corporate influence to control the Italian media. Guzzanti’s work also raises questions about the systematic replacement of respected journalists with people in Berlusconi’s own employ. is a galvanizing blend of humour and righteous indignation.
Ferociously funny, Viva Zapatero! scored a major ovation at the Venice International Film Festival. Winner of the Silver Ribbon for Best Documentary at the Italian National Syndicate of Film Journalists Awards 2006 and Nominated for Best Documentary at the European Film Awards 2005, and nominated for the Grand Jury Prize World Cinema (Documentary) at the Sundance Film Festival 2006.”Italy may have its own “Fahrenheit 9/11”” – VARIETY.
