In late December 2015, just after the birth of my second daughter Lara I was diagnosed with a Teratoma of the spine, It was malignant and aggressive. Immediate action was required and I was lead with an amazing team of oncologists, orthopedic and vascular surgeons to ensure the most successful outcome was achieved.

Some people battle cancer for years, I only battled the cancer and won in the short but intense period of 6 months. Every day I think how unbelievable my outcome was. Can I really have only had to fight for 6 months, hopefully this remains a fact for years to come.

After a follow up visit to the specialists and further scans confirming all was clear my husband and I thought of how we could say thankyou to the amazing team. A box of chocolates was never going to satisfy. We thought by holding a ball we could celebrate the victory and also raise money for a very worthy organisation called Cure Cancer. The oncologist who treated me is a member of this organisation and received grants to do the research. Without his knowledge I may have not had such an amazing outcome

The Cash for Cancer Gala Ball 2016 will be an evening of elegance, entertainment and enjoyment. With tickets selling for $140 this includes Canapes and Sparkling on arrival, 4 hour beverage package, a specially designed 2 course menu and petit fours to conclude.

Caves Beachside Hotel is the perfect venue for the evening. Canapes and Sparkling are to be served at 6:30 pm with doors opening to the Nautless Ballroom at 7pm.

Big Band Jazz Tunes from the Three Handed Beat Bandits and their special guests will provide entertainment for the whole evening with a repertoire of swing, blues and other jazz styles they are renowned for getting all guests dancing away. The Saxophonist of the Band is not only an international musician, but also an inspirational man, having lost one arm to cancer in 2012, he too fought the battle. Neill Duncan with his band will be providing the most sensational music.

There will also be silent auctions and a lucky door prize for guests to enjoy.
