Hunter Semillon & Seafood has been moved to October so we can share the launch of our 2010 Semillons with you. The move brings a new format with great activities, demonstrations and Master Classes along with FREE event entry.

Our Semillons both newly launched, and from the depths of the cellar, will be paired with fabulous fresh seafood served by local restaurants. Port Stephens Oyster farmers will be on hand to freshly shuck their oysters, our winemakers will share their wine knowledge and our guest celebrity chef, Alvin Quah finalist MasterChef Series 2, will teach you some great seafood recipes.

Event Program & Activities:

•Meet the winemakers and producers – wander the stalls & chat to the winemakers or join a Master Class.

•Picnic on seafood dishes prepared by local restaurants – bring a rug and relax on the lawns.

•Fill the pantry with local cheeses, olive oils and sourdough.

•Listen to our Semillon & Seafood talks on the central stage.

•Cheer on the winemakers in the Winemaker BBQ Seafood Cook-off.

•Dine in the Hunter Valley Semillon & Seafood onsite restaurant –BOOK NOW!

The Semillon & Seafood Restaurant is a new addition to the event for this year.    Chef Matt Dillow & his team from The Verandah Restaurant have created a menu, that pairs perfectly with Semillon, for guests to enjoy in the comfort of a fully seated marquee with crockery & cutlery.  

Steps to an Onsite Restaurant Experience

1.         Decide how many courses you want (is it just a main, an entrée & main, main & dessert or all three) – you don’t have to decide which dish you would like – leave that for on the day!

2.         Book your meal vouchers on line

3.         Bring your vouchers to the event

4.         When you’re ready to dine visit the restaurant marquee

5.         Show your vouchers for restaurant entry

6.         Find a table

7.         Chose your dish

8.         Enjoy your meal & head back out to enjoy the program of activities in the grounds.

 Please note :-

·           Tickets are limited

·           Only those with Restaurant vouchers will have access to the Onsite Restaurant

·           The restaurant is designed as a comfortable place to take a sheltered short break from the activities of the day whilst you enjoy your meal

·           This is not an area where you can book a table for the day

·           Tickets to this area will only be available on the day if the restaurant is not fully booked

·           Meals & wines from the general event cannot be taken into the Onsite Restaurant

·           Wines served with meals per the below – additional wine sales are not available in this area

 

Semillon and Seafood Restaurant Menu 2010

ENTREE - $18 matched with Hunter Valley Semillon (60ml) or bottle of water (plus booking fee)

Citrus and dill cured salmon gravlax with kipfler potato and fennel salad

OR

Blue swimmer crab, peach and almond salad with raspberry vinaigrette

OR

Caramelized onion, semi-dried tomato and goats cheese tart

MAIN - $24 matched Hunter Valley Semillon (60ml) or bottle of water (plus booking fee)

Rosemary and garlic lamb back strap on root vegetable roesti and harissa

OR

Grilled swordfish topped with king prawn on skordallia with sweet red pepper dressing

Chicken breast on four cheese risotto cake with pinenut and sage butter sauce

Hunter Valley Semillon is a perfect match with fresh Port Stephens Oysters. Book your ½ dozen oysters and 60ml of Semillon in the Oyster Bar.  

•SEAFOOD COOKING DEMONSTRATIONS with Alvin Quah finalist MasterChef Series 2 - BOOK NOW!
Join our Celebrity Chef, Masterchef's Alvin Quah, as he demonstrates his favourite recipes and pick up new tips and tricks to amaze at your next dinner party. Finish the session by learning how to match the dish with a Hunter Valley Semillon for the ultimate combination. There will be a few sessions throughout the day (similar dishes prepared at each session). Meet Janelle Bloom at 2.00pm as she demonstrates her seafood favourites; Janelle will also MC with Alvin with extra seafood tips to have you cooking like a pro. Each session will run for approximately half an hour.

•SEMILLON MASTER CLASSES - BOOK NOW!
This is a great way to learn more, impress your friends or top up your knowledge of Hunter Valley Semillon. The four sessions will be run in a dedicated marquee. Each session will run for half an hour and will include four wines. They will be hosted by The Wine Man, Peter Bourne, who will be joined by a panel of our Winemakers. This is a superb interactive way to learn more about Hunter Valley Semillon. Each session will run for approximately half an hour.

The four sessions are:

11.30am -      Trophy/gold medal tasting

12.30pm -      Vintage Bi-Vertical - 2010, 2008, 2006, 2004

1.30pm -        Regional tasting - Lovedale, Broke, Pokolbin, Belford or Mt View

2.30pm -        The many faces of Semillon - Sparkling, table, off-dry and dessert styles

If you care about the wine you drink, you should also care about the glasses you drink from. The right glassware means the difference between a good glass of wine and a great one. Like listening to great music requires the right acoustics, like great art  requires the right light, great wine needs the rights glass to show you everything it has to offer.

The Plumm Masterclass Wine Glass Experience has its own unique style, while following a structured format. This enables all experiences to be the ultimate event which is educational and entertaining.

Join the Hunter’s own Iain Riggs (Chairman of Judges) and Plumm designer Dana Morris, for a masterclass tasting of the Hunter’s unique treasure – Semillon, enhanced by a selection of glasses from the Plumm Vintage family. The Plumm Vintage range, made from premium European crystal is designed for every day use. The glassware used for the tasting are yours to keep as we know once you taste our wines from these glasses you will be hooked - this selection of four glasses would normally cost you $110.
