The Australian Prime Minister recently announced that the Solar Dawn Project (www.solardawn.com.au) was selected as the preferred solar thermal project in the Australian Government's Solar Flagships program.
AREVA's Wil Gardner has agreed to present to the Institute about the project.
Solar Dawn is a proposed 250MW solar thermal gas bybrid project, using AREVA's Australian-pioneered "Compact Linear Fresnel Receiver" (CLFR) solar thermal technology. It uses a gas boiler backup system to enable the plan to generate whenever it's needed most - even when the sun isn't shining. It will be the largest solar thermal gas hybrid plant in the world, it will have a total capital value of approximately AU$1.2 billion and is expected to receive over AU$450 million of grant funding from the Australian Government.
Car parking will be limited. RSVP by 5 August 2011, for catering purposes.
