Thinking and Working Mathematically
Target Audience: Teachers and Parents from K-9
- Teachers will participate in training to further develop teaching and learning strategies for the Number strand. The workshop examines ways students learn mathematics using the Framework in Number and refers to the Count Me In Too (CMIT) and the Counting On Programs.
- Participants will experience a range of activities suitable for students from early Stage 1 to Stage 4 and examine how these can be applied to the Syllabus outcomes. At the end of the workshop participants will have an understanding of the Framework in Number, an introduction to CMIT and Counting On and how these programs contribute to Mathematical Thinking.
- Participants will have a bank of activities and teaching strategies that are relevant to the syllabus and they will be able to present this workshop to teachers at their school.
About the Presenter:
- George Anderberg’s most recent employment prior to founding The Mathematics Connection was Regional Mathematics Consultant with the New South Wales Department of Education and Training.
- His experience includes teaching Mathematics at all levels from K-12, adult education, pre service teacher training, distance education and parent training.
- He has worked as a mathematics teacher in the State, Catholic, Independent, ACT and Colorado State systems.
- His expertise is “how children learn mathematics from K – 10” and he has extensive experience with Count Me In Too (K-4) and Counting – On (5-8).
- George Anderberg has over 30 years of experience educating both students and teachers in the field of mathematics he is well placed to meet the requirements of all parties within the education environment.
- He holds a BEc, MEd and is a member of the Australian College of Educators. He has conducted research at university level into how children learn mathematics (K-7), has written numerous papers and presented at local and overseas conferences.

Terms & Conditions : There must be a minimum of 15 participants for the workshop to run. If the workshop is oversubscribed our policy is to run another one 2 weeks later at the same location providing the presenter and facility are available. There will be a full refund of costs in the event of The Mathematics Connection cancelling a workshop. A refund of costs will not be given where notification of withdrawal is received by an attendee less than 7 days before the date of the workshop.
