Ever wanted to write a song or put on a show but don’t know how?  Maybe you just have a whole bunch of songs that are unfinished?  Pull out those half-done lyrics , get that guitar out from under your bed and do something for the musician inside you!

The Newsagency is very pleased to host a workshop for the budding singer/songwriter held on Tuesday the 5th of February.  The night will consist of talks from darlings of the singer/songwriter scene, Jack Carty and Sarah Humphreys and The Newsagency operator, Alison Avron.  Each guest will focus on answering any questions related to setting up/promoting your first show as well as singing and song writing tips. There will also be an opportunity at the end of the night for attendees to perform their songs in a master class setting.

For over a year now The Newsagency has opened its doors to many artists including Lanie Lane, Elana Stone, Brendan Maclean and NGAIIRE.  It is dedicated to encouraging and inspiring Sydney’s inner-west community and focuses on giving up & coming musicians a stage void of noisy pokies-ridden pubs and RSLs.

“A great venue doing great things for local artists and audiences…” – Andy Kelly, Winterman & Goldstein Management

Be sure to bring a pen & paper for note-taking and if you choose to take part in the master class section make sure you bring any rough chord/lyric sheets of your songs.  An electric piano will be provided but please bring your guitar if that is your instrument of choice.  We promise a friendly, comfortable environment and lots of positive vibes to motivate you into getting those creative juices flowing!

$20 just to listen or $30 to workshop your songs in the master class
