This August I will travel to Tanzania to take part in Cure Cancer Australia’s Climb for a Cure Kilimanjaro Challenge. This is a twelve day journey incorporating a challenging seven day trek to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro (5,895m).

Mount Kilimanjaro is the tallest free standing mountain in the world and a very long way from the foot paths of Melbourne I am accustomed to walking on. I will be training extensively to meet the physically demanding challenge of hiking to the summit. Underlying my strict training regime though is the real reason I am taking on this challenge, to raise funds to find a cure for cancer.

Finding a cure for cancer is a cause that is close to my heart. I have friends who have been affected by cancer and would like to see a cure found so others do not have to go through the same. I have chosen to support Cure Cancer Australia as I have a deep respect for their work. Cure Cancer Australia works to support innovative young researchers working across all areas of cancer in their quest to find a cure.

I have pledged to raise a minimum of $8,300 for Cure Cancer Australia. This amount is enough to fund one month of vital cancer research. I am also hoping to raise up to $6,000 to cover some of my travel costs. This amount has been approved by Cure Cancer Australia.

T o reach my fundraising target I will be collecting funds through my online fundraising page as well as by holding a raffle to be drawn at my fundraising ball June.
