The biennial First Nations Health Communication Symposium brings together First Nations and non-indigenous leaders, health professionals, researchers, interpreters and community advocates, to share research, lived experiences, and best practices to advance strategies for delivering culturally safe care. 

On Thursday 21st August, day 1 of the Symposium, attendees can enjoy a range of presentations, panels and information stalls and networking opportunities. We're thrilled to welcome Carol Christopherson as our keynote speaker. Please note that Day 2 will feature an in-person workshop, with separate registration details to be shared soon.

See below details for Day 1. Full program will be circulated closer to the Symposium.

When: Thursday 21st August 2025. Start time: 8.30am End time: 4.30pm

What: Presentations, panels and stalls. 

Where:  
  • Darwin: Menzies School of Health Research, Auditorium (John Matthews building, RDH campus)
  • Alice Springs: Flinders University (Lecture Rooms 3&4) for attendees to participate as a group and presenters to deliver talks remotely.
  • Online: via zoom link in ticket

Catering: Morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea will be provided as well as water, tea and coffee.  


Presentation topics will include: communication practices in Central Australia, culturally safe conversations in clinical practice, language and meaning in health communication, cultural safety in medical curriculum and professional development.
