Adelaide, Australia – After more than two decades of friendship and shared stages, Australian trance icon DJ JoSH and theFirst Lady of Trance, Jan Johnston, have finally united in the studio to release their long-awaited collaboration:“Light Around You”.

The story between these two trailblazers began in the early 1990s when JoSH and Jan first shared a bill at Adelaide’s legendary Heaven Nightclub, during the meteoric rise of Jan’s breakout single“Skydive.” Both women were carving their paths—Jan becoming a household name in international trance, while JoSH was fast establishing herself as one of Australia’s most respected trance DJs. Their journeys crossed again on the world stage atSydney’s GL Mardi Gras in the early 2000s, where a backstage green-room moment blossomed into a friendship that has endured for decades.

Over the years, DJ JoSH has toured Jan Johnston in Adelaide multiple times, and in 2008 JoSH produced and remixed“Read My Lips” by Emaar and Jan Johnston—a track that was re-released in 2020 in collaboration with Ericson under JvE (Josh vs Ericson). At that time, Jan made a promise: one day, they would write a song together.

In 2025, that promise is finally fulfilled.“Light Around You”is not only their first co-written trance love song but also marks DJ JoSH’s debut as a solo songwriter and producer—an achievement she once thought impossible. To have created this milestone with Jan Johnston, who has collaborated with trance legends such as BT, Tiësto, Paul van Dyk, and Cosmic Gate, makes this release even more momentous.
