Banda Politika will take you on a musical expedition “From Pontos to Crete” in a presentation of musical motifs and songs that have survived and resonate in our hearts as we cross the regions of the Black Sea, Constantinople, Propontis down the coasts of Asia Minor, Ayvali, Smyrne, Erythrea and the Greek islands to Crete.

Through the use of a variety of traditional musical Lyra instruments each adopting its own shape and form based on place of origin e.g. the Cretan Lyra and the Pontian Lyra (kemence), Viololyra, Lyraki, together with other traditional instruments such as the Cretan Lute, Steriano Lute and the more contemporary accordion, mandolin, guitar, bass and percussive accompaniments, Banda Politika set the scene for an unforgettable musical journey along the coasts of Asia Minor and the Greek Islands, from Pontos to Crete...

Taking part for Banda Politika:

Michael Platyrrahos: Cretan Lyra, Viololyra, Lyraki, Cretan Lute, Steriano Lute, Mandolin, Vocals
George Apostolidis: Pontian Lyra, Guitar, Vocals
Angelo Gatsos: Accordion, Bass Guitar
