Starlight Reserve is located within a 5-minute walk from the Tirhatuan Wetlands, a well recognised site for significant indigenous flora and fauna.

Please join us at Starlight Reserve for an information session, where you can:

  • Learn about the important plant life in Starlight from local enthusiasts and the Knox City Council Bushland team.
  • Join with a group of local residents and discuss the future directions of a Friends Group for this area.
  • Help stop invasive environmental weeds, such as Gorse, and gather with like-minded residents to enjoy the park, flora and fauna present in Starlight Reserve.

About Starlight Reserve

Starlight Reserve has an interesting history. A section of the reserve was a prisoner of war camp during World War II and with 2,500 Italian prisoners captured in the middle east. Today the  3Ha of Council land is a reserve for nature conservation, a heritage site and playground space for families.

About Friends of Starlight Reserve

We would like to start a Friends group  to enhance the natural “green” corridors in the area. We would also like to encourage residents to plant local plants in their gardens. Working alongside Council team we would remove woody weeds, and endeavor to preserve, enhance and plant indigenous plants.

Our goal is to increase awareness of its value for the local and wider community, and highlight the history of the area over the ages, including of course pre-white settlement. Our goal is to acknowledge and consult with First Nations people.
