Having completed a successful run of tour dates in 2012, and receiving a nomination as a top ten finalist in the MusicOz Awards at the Sydney Opera House, Brisbane altcountry act Breaking Hart Benton will hit the road again in March to release their single 'More Than You Deserve' in anticipation of the release of their second EP in May this year.

Breaking Hart Benton have established a unique and original sound they describe as 'new time, old time' lyrically and melodically rich modern songwriting (the ‘new time’) with traditional influences, most strikingly the distinctive clawhammer banjo (the ‘old time’) of North America’s Appalachian mountains played by BHB’s Lee James.

Their new single 'More Than You Deserve' explores the ‘new time’ territory, but the traditional elements still feature with some mountainstyle banjo plucking sitting alongside modern production qualities brought to the track by producer Stephen Bartlett of the Docking Station Studio. The single represents a shift in production values for the pair who in this instance step away from a more traditional style of recording.

“We have typically approached recording from a fairly raw and unproduced standpoint but when the opportunity to work with Stephen came up we thought we would try something different,” says guitarist and singer Michael David.

The studio has recently been a second home for Breaking Hart Benton as they have been working on their second EP. The band was also selected by a panel of industry experts from Island Records, Music Sales, Mushroom Music and MGM to feature on the 11 track compilation album for the QUT 100 Songs Project recorded at Gasworks Studio.
