Starting a small business can be extremely daunting for many people– from registering a business, tax, recruitment, business plans, finance and marketing.

Our Starting a Small Business workshop, with small business expert, Rosemary Spiteri, will guide you through the most common issues, including accessing government grants and low rate business loans, insurance implications, public liability, advertising, GST and BAS. This two-hour workshop is consistently one of BEC’s most popular and well-attended events on our calendar, and has been the springboard for many successful small businesses.

Designed specifically for those wanting to start a business from home or open a small business in retail or hospitality, Rosemary shares her enormous knowledge and expertise openly with participants, in a warm and collegial environment.

You will walk away with a firm understanding of how to:

• Register a business name

• Register for an ABN

• Understand a commercial lease

• Navigate your way through local, state and federal legislation

• Prepare and lodge your Business Activity Statement

• Prepare a business and marketing plan

• Access Government grants and low rate business loans

The Presenter - Rosemary Spiteri

Rosemary has been in business for most of fifteen years, with a break working as a trainer and Senior Education Officer for TAFE NSW and as a manager for a co-operative. As a business owner, Rosemary started off as a remedial therapist and soon established a highly successful day spa at The Carrington Hotel in the Blue Mountains. Rosemary has been a senior education officer for TAFE NSW. Rosemary has been closely involved in delivering training for the NEIS program and as a mentor and business advisor. Rosemary holds qualifications in Business Management, Training and Assessment, Remedial Therapies and Anatomy and Physiology.
