Internationally roaming guitarists extraordinaire will be performing at Foundry616 for the first time.

Ian Date long regarded as one of the finest guitar players to have emerged from Australia is based in Ireland but he returns to his native shores once or twice a year to work and tour with his Sydney based brother Nigel Date.Ian had a long history playing with many of Australia’s best jazz musicians over many years. The two brothers are fantastic exponents of acoustic jazz style guitar ala Django Reinhardt.

Together they will present not just the music of Django but will explore everything from Bach to Bud Powell as well. From a gypsy campfire to the lowdown bluesy sounds of New Orleans to a South American street party, The Date Brothers happily invoke the sounds and styles across 300 years of music and play in a virtuosic manner on their acoustic guitars.

The emphasis is on original arrangements rendering beautiful melodies and improvisations played with passion and great style on acoustic guitars and double bass.
