Event Details

This grand and inspiring show is an architectural projection that tells the story of Hart’s Mill, told through animation mapped to the architectural features of the five story building. Presented over three nights of the Port Festival 2009, it was South Australia’s first fully animated building son et lumiere incorporating narrative projection.

Harts Mill Inhabited is being restaged for the first time ever in May 2014 as the new Harts Mill public precinct opens to the public. The event will include the original 20 minute animation with addition of new graphics representing the changes to the area in the last five years. The show will be held from 5:45pm until 9pm on the 9th and 10th of May 2014.

The story is told as though through the eyes and experiences of the Harts Mill itself, as if it is a character of many years’ knowledge telling the younger buildings on the western shore of the Port River, what it has seen and may yet see. Cindi Drennan of Illuminart developed the story through consultation with local groups and interested residents of Port Adelaide, assisted by the creative producer and director of Port Festival director Emma Webb.
