Sydney’s premier soul outfit, Johnny G & The E Types, return to the Camelot stage with their explosive Southern Soul Revue — a high-energy tribute to the golden era of Memphis soul.
Step into the sound of Memphis, 1967 as this powerhouse nine-piece band delivers the raw, electrifying classics of Aretha Franklin, Otis Redding, Etta James, Wilson Pickett, Sam Cooke, Booker T & the MGs, Sam & Dave, Dusty Springfield and more. This is soul music as it was meant to be heard — gritty, passionate, and impossible to sit still to.
Fronting the band are three outstanding vocalists:
“Soul Sista #1” Julz Di Sisto,
“The Monarch of Soul” Glenn Whitehall, and
the sensational Ev Jones — each bringing their own fire, style and stage presence to these timeless hits.
Expect a hit-packed set featuring Respect, In The Midnight Hour, Knock On Wood, Soul Man, Hard To Handle, Mr Pitiful, You Make Me Feel Like a Natural Woman, Mr Big Stuff, What a Man and more — all killer, no filler.
Backed by a razor-sharp rhythm section and a blazing horn line, Johnny G & The E Types have built a reputation for sold-out shows across Sydney. Led by legendary keyboardist Johnny “G” Gauci (Ed Kuepper, Leonardo’s Bride, Neil Murray), the band channels the spirit of the great Stax house bands — tight, dynamic, and irresistibly funky.
Bring your dancing shoes — this is a show built for the dance floor. From the first horn blast to the final encore, you’ll be on your feet, moving, grooving and singing along.
This is the Southern soul that inspired Respect, The Blues Brothers, The Commitments and The Sapphires — delivered with authenticity, swagger and pure joy.
If you love Otis, Aretha and the golden age of soul, don’t miss this.
Come and shake your money-maker.
