SARSHA SIMONE | THANDO | ROSIE + THE BEES
Generation Nu Soul presents a night of incredible original music from three of Australia’s most unique emerging artists, each with their own compelling musicality. For one night only at Foundry 616, Sarsha Simone, Thando (Melb), and Rosie + The Bees will take to the stage in an intimate setting where three different worlds of soul, jazz and future soul music will collide, shattering your perception of Australian soul music, ushering you to defiantly support the growing number of soul musicians brave enough to create their own music in an industry defined by rock, pop, and indie music.
Synonymous in her local community, Sarsha Simone’s unique vocal tone distinguishes her apart from the rest with a tonality that effortlessly encapsulates vintage soul on a bedrock of head-nodding hip hop and soul music. Blessed with a unique vocal tone that has the ability to cut through the cold and embed itself in the listener’s soul, Sarsha honed her skills with Dojo Cuts on their 2008 self-titled debut album. Released through Record Kicks, the album received
praise worldwide thanks to the pairing of heavy funk with Sarsha’s powerful vocals.Having had the opportunity to travel the world as front woman of internationally renowned funk band Dojo Cuts, to then collaborating with international hip hop artists TY (UK), Rashaan Ahmad (US), French producer DJ Moar and local producer Twitch, Sarsha Simone continues to make her mark destined for the world stage. Equipped with gutsy lyrical content that will shed light on exactly who the enigmatic woman is behind the ballsy voice, Sarsha Simone is more than ready to deliver her Vaughn meets West style and sound to the world.
Thando hails from Melbourne, a city celebrated for its magnificent array of talented musicians across all genres. It’s no surprise that Thando’s musical approach is a mirror of a city boasting deep with forward thinking musicians. Her sound is a concoction of sexy R&B, electronica, eclectic jazz, and a splash of rock.
Thando is not afraid to lyrically touch upon notions of love, life, and sex. Thando and her band have created a sound that can only be described as slick, sexy soul. The sound has become unlike what has been heard before, and is sure to get you off your feet. Bringing a stripped down vocal and keys set to Foundry 616, Thando is set to leave a lasting impression on R&B and soul lovers.
Entrenched in the music scene, Rosie + The Bees are world class! Fronted by Rosie Henshaw, Rosie + The Bees are what you would consider a spiritual journey into and outside of yourself. In addition to her smooth vocal inflection, Rosie’s musicianship includes her accomplished bass guitar and sitar skills. Her
