“music of a more poetic tomorrow” (Sydney Morning Herald)
Take an intimate look into the hymns of the English Tudor composer Thomas Tallis through the musical kaleidoscope of four of Australia’s most accomplished jazz musicians.
Proving to be a work almost beyond classification, Bearing the Bell is the critically acclaimed and rarely performed project by Freedman Fellow (2003) and alto saxophonist Andrew Robson.
Set against the striking sanctuary of the St Stephen’s Church, the work features elements of Tallis’ original pieces infused with Andrew’s rich and original jazz language, swaying from individual solo statements to sublime ensemble passages performed by Australian’s most distinguished jazz artists.
