Not Good With Horses is a semi acoustic indie folk/americana 4pc from Sydney, and has been playing locally for almost two years.

Musically they roam the borderlands of genre crossover, where old time country, bluegrass and blues collides with contemporary folk, rock, and the new singer/songwriter tradition. Michael Nesmith and Gram Parsons were early trail blazers here, but the likes of The Cowboy Junkies, Ryan Adams, Paul Kelly, and Gillian Welsh would be considered much more as influences.

Singer Brielle Davis and guitarist Graham Walshe write the bands original material, with the rest of the repertoire a grab-bag of covers and re-interpreted songs by people as diverse as Hank Williams, Nick Cave, Justin Townes Earl, Paul Kelly, and Eddy Cochran.

NGWH have a sound that is at once spare and 'stripped back', yet dripping with swing and stagger. The rhythm section of Brendan 'Porter' Pace (upright bass) and percussionist Neville Anderson (snare drum, brushes) provides a tight and solid foundation for Walshe's guitar and banjo stylings, and the sensual husky tone of Brielle Davis's voice.

Some recording with producer Brendan Gallagher is slated for later this year. NGWH is a band just beginning to find it's feet... be sure to keep an eye out.
