COOLEST ROCKIN’ DADDY COMES TO TOWN
Bona fide Aussie rock and roll royalty comes to Tamworth’s
Longyard Hotel on the afternoon of
Sunday, 28 th June when
Ross ‘The Boss’ Wilson arrives to
‘raise the roof’ in support of the
Melanie Rapley Cancer Appeal.
The former Melanie O’Shea, a 32yo mother of two, is fighting an extremely rare form of cervical cancer and members of the local musical community, along with Ross Wilson, have stepped forward to help raise additional fighting funds for her ongoing treatment.
Melanie was an outstanding swimmer reaching the Olympic-trials level and is currently Patron of Tamworth City Swimming Club. The Club, its committee and members have been fantastic staging two separate events already.
Ross Wilson, an ARIA Hall of Famer, has fronted two of Australia’s most iconic bands, the legendary
Daddy Cool and
Mondo Rock.
Now listen! the opening words from the Wilson-penned anthem
‘Eagle Rock’ are arguably the two most recognizable in Oz popular music. Recorded by The Wiggles, opening music for hit movie ‘Wolf Creek’, inspiration for Elton John’s monster ‘Crocodile Rock’ and an on-ground call-to-arms for NRL Premiers, the Manly Sea Eagles, every boomer has an Eagle Rock moment.
Ross’ backing will come from Tamworth’s own music legend
Lawrie Minson and the very hot
Tamworth All Stars. Generous support is being provided by outstanding performers the likes of
Steve Charles and Champagne Charlies,
Matt Scullion (back from the Central Coast),
Those Gals (with their sweet three-part harmonies) and that genuine rootsy troubadour,
Matt Zarb.
So be there or be square when Ross and Co.
‘raise the roof’ !
