Afro-Balkan All Stars is a unique world music project initiated by south-eastern European pianist Mirko Golub and Australia's well renowned drummer and percussionist Chris Fields. It embodies traditions and musical influences from each band member into a form of music that could only come to life on Sydney Australia grounds, with each member carrying different background origin and musical heritage. As most of the members are teachers and graduates at Sydney's Australian Institute of Music, they have the luxury of choosing from some well researched world class genre material while shaping the music and recording the album (that is work in progress now), from jazz and RnB to Afro, Latin, Indian and eastern European styles.
