Nominations will also be accepted by those in attendance from the floor on the night.
General Meeting (5:30pm - 6pm)
We also invite Landcare subgroups to present on their activities and plans for the year. Please reach out to the team at the Landcare Office to get a presentation guide form.
Guest Speaker (6:00pm - 7:15pm)
Dr Peter Croft will be speaking on Cultural Burning and Fire Management Context.
Dr Peter Croft will talk about his PhD project results of the fate of biodiversity habitat in conjunction with fuel load accumulation over time since the incidence of a fire (including hazard reduction, wildfire and more traditional cool burns). He suggests practical approaches to countering biodiversity loss in fire situations based on this experience and knowledge; and speculates on the place of Aboriginal burning in today’s fire management.
Peter Croft (PhD) has spent his career in natural resource management, working as an animal handler at Toronga Zoo, pasture researcher in the central and western divisions for the Department of Agriculture. In his 33 years as a Senior Ranger and Biodiversity Officer with NPWS, he has conducted flora and fauna surveys, fire management, fire impact assessments on wildlife habitat and fire ecology.
Tea, coffee and a light supper available.
Please RSVP by Wednesday, 10th April, 2024.
