ABOUT MICAELA

The Inspiring Musical Journey of Micaela

In the vibrant parish of Cova da Piedade, Lisbon, a star was born: Micaela! Her love for music blossomed from a young age, and by the tender age of six, she had already graced the stage for the first time. It was just the beginning of what would become a dazzling career in entertainment.

At the age of 12, Micaela got her first major break when she auditioned for the lively group Onda Choc. She spent two years with them, honing her performance skills. By the time she turned 14, she was not only exploring the realm of fashion but also making waves with the youth music group Baby Rock. During her time with the group, she showcased her talents at various national festivals, collecting awards and accolades along the way.

As Micaela juggled her dual passions of music and fashion, it was clear that music would ultimately shape her destiny. A pivotal moment came when she was invited to record a powerful track alongside celebrated artists such as Manuela Bravo, Tony Pinheiro, Ana Margarida and António Rosa. The song, "Jesus Meu Irmão," composed by Eurico Cebola, marked a significant milestone in her career.

In 1996, she took the stage at the illustrious Festival do Sul, where she wowed the crowd with her rendition of Menina Cigana, a performance that earned her a well-deserved first-place win. This triumph propelled Micaela into the spotlight, and soon after, she launched her solo career under the record label Success. Her debut album was a resounding success, earning her a coveted silver record. Among its tracks was the catchy Vou a Feira, which became the anthem of the Popular de Lisboa (Lisboa Popular Fair).

The following years saw Micaela's star continue to rise. In 1997, she released Desliga a Televisão, which quickly went gold, followed by the unforgettable Chupa No Dedo in 1998. This track became synonymous with her name, achieving platinum status and selling over 100,000 copies while dominating the national charts for weeks on end. 1999 brought her the title of Queen of Popular Music with the release of Altos E Baixos, another gold-certified hit.

2000 was another milestone year, with the release of Gugu Dádá, which also garnered a gold record. As she embraced her independence, Micaela established her own label, VM Música, in 2001, paving the way for even more creative freedom. The following year, she released Vou Libertar, featuring her powerful voice on the soap opera theme Ana Júlia, further solidifying her presence in Portuguese pop culture.

In 2003, Micaela celebrated a decade in the industry with her first live album, recorded at the iconic Coliseu do Porto, alongside producer Menito Ramos and special guest Vanda Stuart. She also showcased her talent on the popular TV show Academia De Estrelas, finishing in 4th place, and participated in Fear Fether, which took her all the way to Argentina, marking a significant chapter in her career.

As the years went by, Micaela continued to surprise and delight her fans. In 2005, she released singles like Você Levou Meu Coração and Um Sentimento, both of which became hits on the soap opera Mundo Meu.

In 2006, she signed with One Records and prepared to release her next album. The following year, she delighted fans with her compilation album Successes, featuring 16 of her best-loved tracks. 2008 saw Micaela embark on an enchanting project, Mica&Amigos, a children’s musical that captured the hearts of young audiences and even introduced the first 3D music video in Portugal.

Micaela's evolution continued in 2009 when she signed with Vidisco and released Corpo E Alma, featuring ten tracks penned by the talented Paquito Rebelo. By 2010, she was not only dazzling audiences with her music but also sharing her expertise as a judge on Dança Na Praça on RTP.

A major turning point came in 2014 when she signed with the renowned production company Mspecialevents, collaborating with luminaries like Peter Rafelson and Jorge Ballesteros. This partnership led to the creation of her latest works, including the acclaimed album Pais Real.

Micaela took her talent to international stages, embarking on her first tour in China in 2018, where she quickly became a sought-after artist for both concerts and media appearances in Portugal and beyond.

In recent years, her song Chupa no dedo was featured in the soundtrack of the popular telenovela Amor Amor on SIC in 2021, and in 2022, she released yet another captivating CD titled Record.

Micaela's journey is a testament to her talent, resilience, and passion for music, captivating the hearts of fans across generations and borders.
