RUTH MOODY (CAN)
Ruth Moody is an Australian born, two-time Juno Award winning songwriter from Winnipeg, Canada. Founding and current member of the internationally-renowned, Billboard-charting trio The Wailin' Jennys, she has performed in sold-out venues around the world, made numerous critically-acclaimed albums, and has appeared more than a dozen times on the popular American radio show, A Prairie Home Companion. 2013 saw Ruth embark on a world tour in support of her sophomore solo album, These Wilder Things, which included 12 European shows opening for Mark Knopfler.
Although best known for her work with The Jennys, Ruth is an artist of exceptional depth and grace in her own right. Critics have lauded her ethereal vocals, impressive multi-instrumentalism, and insightful songwriting.
This is Ruth's first time touring Australia with her own band, and her first appearance back in the country since 2006 when she was here with The Wailin' Jennys.
"I can't take her off my jukebox." --Mark Knopfler
"A voice as lovely as springtime's freshest daisy" --Huffington Post
"As musically inciting as a ripe, red pomegranate" --Vintage Guitar
