Singer and actor Rob E Thomas has released his first album “Who Am I?” -  a wide selection of songs, ranging from the standard jazz repertoire, Broadway songs, through to to re-worked pop.

In the words of Rob:

"The songs on the album form a mosaic, a pattern of emotion, sentiment, joy, wish fulfilment and all the other things that make me want to sing. I could have chosen a hundred and getting to the final few meant that I had to think long and hard about each one What made it good? Why did I love it? Whats the story at its heart? Will it speak to others the way it does to me?

The mood ranges from a leisurely bossa nova (Michael Franks’Jardin Botanico), groovy swing (Rainy Days and Mondays), heartfelt ballads (She Was Too Good to Me) through to hard swinging big band (The Way You Look Tonight, arranged by Ed Wilson)

On this album Rob records his second version of Heatwave. His first version, a single, made its way up the charts in 1967. This current version is a boisterous, almost jam session-like big band rendition.

Who Am I? was recorded at 301, with some of Sydney’s finest musicians and produced by Graham Jesse.

Included in the 13 tracks are 6 played by a 16 piece jazz big band and 2 which feature the intimacy of a string quartet.

Who Am I? by Rob E Thomas is released on the Regal Records label and is available online through JB Hi-Fi and on iTunes
