SARAH BELKNER & FRIENDS MARCH MONDAY RESIDENCY AT BUTCHERS BREW BAR

After a cracking first run last year SARAH BELKNER decided she couldn’t wait a whole year to do it again so she's back at Butchers Brew Bar for the first 4 Mondays in March, bringing her unique existential indie singer-songwriter vibes to Butchers Brew & teaming up with a great local artist each week. Together, they bring a residency filled with old songs, brand new songs & always a surprise sing along for everyone to enjoy.  The artists coming along this time are the incredible EBS, TOBY MARTIN, bestie BRENDAN MACLEAN is back for a second round & the wonderful BONNIESONGS.  Each week will be its own adventure & a great way to warm the heart at the start of the week.

  BONNIESONGS For the final week, Sarah is teaming up with the incredible BonnieSongs. Bonnie was supposed to perform last time but had to pull out due to family reasons so everyone is very thrilled she is back for this round!

Sarah first met Bonnie when she was a young whippersnapper playing the drums at various jazz jams & has been thrilled to see her evolve into the incredible indie multi instrumental artist whose most recent single “Strangest Feeling” is a must listen, just a great slightly out of the box banger about feeling deeply about someone.

Bonniesongs, aka Irish-born, Australian-based multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Bonnie Stewart, announces her sophomore album ‘Strangest Feeling’ out on 25 July via Impressed Recordings.  With heavy thrums of detuned guitars entwined with layers of angelic airy vocals, the forthcoming new album 'Strangest Feeling' shows Bonniesongs’ masterful ability to balance sound &  silence, reminding us that music, at its core, is simple vibration moving through air. Bonniesongs makes music that is both mellow & hazy, & driven & edgy, traversing art-folk, psychedelia, dream-pop & grunge. She could also be compared to art-rock & alternative artists such as PJ Harvey, Feist & Grouper for her music’s raw, hypnotic qualities, although Bonniesongs’ style sits more in an ‘ethereal grunge’ category of its own, one she’s been carving out since her 2019’s debut album 'Energetic Mind' (Small Pond/ Art As Catharsis). Once described by artist Fink, who championed Bonniesongs heavily on his KCRW radio show & toured Australia with her early this year as having “a deceptively hard edged soft-core.” Bonnie was recently announced as a semi finalist in the International Songwriting Competition with her latest track 'Strangest Feeling'; in two categories & her music video was awarded the Wild One on Rage. Bonnie’s single 'Olive Oil' is a semi finalist in the Unsigned Music Only Music Awards.

Bonniesongs has supported for international renowned artists such as Fink, The Beths, Joan As Police Women, Gordi & Sorcha Richardson.

  SARAH BELKNER is a singer, instrumentalist, songwriter, arranger, composer, musical director & studio producer living & creating on Gadigal land. Her EP ‘Humans’ (2015). & two albums ‘But You Are, But It Has’ (2017) & ‘The Apple’ (2023) have seen her gain accolades such as Double J Album of the Week, a song featured in the hit series ‘Offspring’, performances at The Great Escape UK & supporting artists including Sarah Blasko, Lisa Mitchell & The Veils.

Belkner has become a revered touring musician/ MD performing with many great artists including Missy Higgins, Neil Finn & Tim Minchin. She has also sat in the producers seat for the likes of Missy Higgins, Brendan Maclean & Leah Flanagan.
