Tango Paradiso, considered one of Australia’s best and most established tango orchestras, brings the electric energy and smouldering passion of tango alive. Born in the bordellos of Buenos Aires at the turn of last century, the dance of tango is considered by some to be almost ‘vertical sex’! The music that inspires the dance plays the field between the harmonic complexities of jazz, the technical brilliance of classical music to finish finally in the silky sensuality of Piazzolla’s great tango tunes.

With the acclaimed South American pianist Daniel Rojas (winner of this month’s Limelight magazine CD of the month)( http://www.danielrojas.com.au/); astounding violinists Romano Crivici http://www.crivici.com/) and Adam Wasiel; ex principal flute with the Australian Opera, Carla Thackrah (http://www.carlathackrah.com/) and talented bassist Bella Brown, the band is a mix of the best and wildest musical temperaments on offer!

This night they’re joined by the wonderful voice of Nadia Piave (http://nadiapiave.com/ ), a singer well know to ABC radio listeners with a repertoire ranging from renaissance song through to cabaret and world music.

The band has performed and recorded in Buenos Aires, the home of tango, as well as having played to acclaim at many world music and tango festivals around Australia and is a regular at the Woodford Folk Festival.

Try out your tango moves or just watch the experts on the floor. Either way you’re in for a night of sensual pleasure.

More about Nadia Piave

Nadia Piave, who has presented a number of exciting internationally-flavoured concerts for Foundry616 in 2014, is a performer and teacher working in all areas of vocal music, well-known for her engaging performance style. Her voice is a musical paint box that brings to life all the colours and textures of her chosen repertoire, from renaissance and baroque madrigals to neapolitan serenades, from tango and the chansons of the Parisian musette to lilting folk songs from both her Italian and Australian heritage. Her musical cohorts are all pretty great too!

Nadia has released three CDs: rose and caffe d’amore with accordionist Ross Maio and guitarist Gino Pengue, collections of nostalgic Italian and French love songs, and O Serafin! with Gino Pengue, a collection of ‘world’ Christmas songs and carols,. In 2015 Nadia will release Cinema! her CD of favourite songs from French and Italian movies of the 40s through to the 80s, featuring pianist Mauro Colombis, and again Gino Pengue.
