Mocambo Jam

...and now for something really refreshing for your musical palate:
Un Gelato al Limon!

A collection of Italian songs by songwriter and singer Paolo Conte....Delizioso!

Mocambo Jam is a Sydney-based trio of Italian-born musicians – Danilo Sidari, vocals, Mauro Colombis, piano, Carlo Grana, guitar. Their formative years immersed in the sounds of inspirational Italian songwriters and singers such as Paolo Conte, Fabrizio De Andrè, Francesco De Gregori and others, the trio began to play more than a year ago for passion, friendship and the after rehearsal pizza. Gelato al Limon is their first public appearance as Mocambo Jam.

Italian crooner and fiction writer, Danilo Sidari was born in Sanremo (The Riviera) and grew up sharing his musical interest between the progressive rock of British bands such as Caravan and Hatfield and the North and the Italian singer-songwriters. In 1995 love brought him downunder, a world in which he still lives, loves, sings and writes and one that created his undoubtedly perpetual schizophrenic experience, a threesome love affair with Australia and Italy.

Mauro Colombis is a Sydney based versatile Italian musician. He was classically trained and gave concerts in different European countries and Australia. In the last decade he specialized in silent films piano accompaniment and has played for major film festival in Italy (Le Giornate del Cinema Muto) and Australia (Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, Adelaide and Brisbane). He collaborates with other musicians and often with eclectic singer Nadia Piave.

Born in Tuscany Carlo Grana is a mostly self-taught guitarist who grew up listening to and playing the music of Italian cantautori (singer-songwriters). While in Italy, Carlo played in a number of mainly acoustic and folk bands. After moving to Sydney in 1997, he has been part of a number of Italian bands, including Vento del Sud, Musicanostra and, as a guest, Zumpa playing in and around Sydney and at folk festivals in NSW. With Mocambo Jam, Carlo happily returns to playing the music of one of his favorite cantautori of his youth (Paolo Conte).

“Legendary Italian crooner Paolo Conte’s idiosyncratic compositions are beautifully rendered by Mocambo Jam. The Sydney-based trio of Italian-born musicians – Danilo Sidari, vocals, Mauro Colombis, piano, Carlo Grana, guitar – effortlessly manages to breathe new life into Conte’s timeless classics such as 60’s anthem “Azzurro” and 1981 uptempo masterpiece “Via Con Me (It’s Wonderful)”. Sidari’s gruff and understated approach is perfectly complemented by the musical prowess of Colombis and Grana. If you like Italian vintage red wine and dream in black and white, then you can’t afford to miss Mocambo Jam’s Australian performances.”
