Lucy Voronov, from Minsk (Belorus), plays the cimbalom (tsimbali), an instrument of the dulcimer family, with 76 strings that are struck with wooden hammers or plucked. A spectacular and charismatic performer, Lucy is the winner of International Competitions for Folk Instruments, and one of the world’s leading exponents of the cimbalom.

Cellist Anatoli Torjinski, from Odessa, is one of the most in-demand players on the Sydney World Music scene, a master of haunting sounds & brilliant jazz/world-style improvisations.

Guitarist & Domra-player Stephen Lalor grew up playing mandolin with local and later Russian groups. He furthered his skills on domra (Russian mandolin) in Kiev (Ukraine). He has performed at major Australian & European Festivals, and as a mandolin specialist performs regularly with Australian and overseas orchestras.

As The Volatinsky Trio, these three virtuosi present a unique combination of exotic instruments, playing exciting music laced with the flavours of Russia & the Balkans.
